"A Vibrant Centre of Christian Spirituality in the heard of the city"
We are a small group of volunteers who enjoy meeting together to ring tuneful music on handbells.
Our original set of 12 musical handbells came to St Paul's early in 1981 as a fitting memorial to the late Will Jones who for many years was a distinguished bandsman and conductor in Ipswich.
The bells were purchased from Whitechapel Bell Foundry in London and were dedicated by Archdeacon Arthur Grimshaw on March 1st 1981.
Through the generosity of various gifts and bequests we now have 35 bells, covering 2½ octaves, valued at approximately $35,000 to $40,000.
We ring in the traditional English style using numerical notation, so an ability to read music is not a pre-requisite for joining our team of ringers.
We provide music for Church Services and perform at Nursing Homes and for Community Groups in the wider Community.
Anyone interested in joining our group would be most welcome. Our usual practice time is Wednesday afternoon from 3.00 - 5.00. Our leader, Mrs June Suthers can be contacted on 3201 6162 or via the Parish Office.
