"A Vibrant Centre of Christian Spirituality in the heard of the city"

Mother's Union (MU)

MU is a Mission Agency of the Anglican Church of Australia and is part of the worldwide Mothers’ Union. It has links to 83 countries and over four million members who share one heartfelt vision: to bring about a world where God’s love is shown through prayer and loving, respectful and flourishing relationships.

The aim of MU is the advancement of Christian religion in the sphere of marriage and family life.

MU’s objectives:

  • To promote and support married life
  • To encourage parents in their role to develop the faith of their children
  • To maintain a worldwide fellowship of Christians united in prayer, worship and service
  • To promote conditions in society favourable to stable family life and the protection of children
  • To help those whose family life has met with adversity

As we are all members of families, membership of MU is open to all (women and men) who have been baptised in the name of the Holy Trinity and who support our Aim & Objectives. Would you like to join? You are very welcome! There is an annual subscription that helps towards the many good projects MU supports in our Diocese and overseas. We also receive a magazine called Mia Mia which is full of encouraging articles and recipes, and actively pray for MU projects all over the world every day! You work and would still like to be a member? No problem! Just ask someone at church, or contact the office for a name, phone number or email address.

We meet on the fourth Thursday of every month, February to November, at 9:30am at St Paul’s for worship. Afterwards we have morning tea followed by our meeting and projects. We are blessed to have Father Donald as our Chaplain. You will find MU members supporting various activities within our church (Music Box, Baptism ministry, prayer chain ministry), as well as being active in activities such as: knitting squares(to be made into quilts) to support those homeless and in need in Australia and in third world countries, making ribbons for sale for AIDS research, joining ecumenically with others to plan and participate in World Day of Prayer each year, organising an “Overseas Day” (a guest speaker, Soup/Slices and stalls) in support of an overseas mission project during Winter, visiting and having morning tea with other isolated country MU members once a year in Laidley, encouraging, visiting and praying for others.
